Prague: Little Quarter or Old Quarter Hotel?

Will be in Prague for five days in August and I'm trying to figure out where is the better location for a hotel in Prague - the Little Quarter near the Charles Bridge, or the Old Quarter, closer to Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. It will be our first time in Prague, with two teenagers. We would like a location the is lively, with plenty of shopping, historic sites and atmosphere. Also would prefer a hotel with character, that has family rooms. Any suggestions or opinions are welcome!

Wenceslas Square is NOT Old Town -it's New Town.

We stay either in Old Town or immediately adjacent - since we like walking to as much as possible.

We stayed in this apt in the Mala Strana area of Prague and loved it. Just a couple blocks from the bridge.

It really does not make any difference, whether in Old Town or Little Qurater ( Mala Strana).

If in Old Town you will be walking across the Charles Bridge to Little Quater.... and

if in Little Quarter ,you will be walking across the Charles Bridge to Old Town.
