Prague hotel help
After days on the computer, I have finally narrowed down my search to four hotels in Old Town, Prague and would like some advice in choosing. It's hard to tell from the maps just how long a walk from one place to another. We can't walk more than 20/30 minutes. Therefore location is a big concern to us to be able to get to the major attractions. Obviously cleanliness of the hotel is the other biggest concern. Our price range is $150 - $200 or a bit more if there's a reason. The hotels I have come up with are Grand Hotel Bohemia, Josef, Maximillian and Grand Hotel Praha. If you could comment on any of these or any other ideas, I would appreciate it.
thanks in advance.

I don't know what part of Prague the hotels you mentioned are in.
We stayed at the Alchemist Hotel and loved it. It is a small botique hotel up the street from the American Embassy. The location was great - away from the crowds but close to walk almost anywhere. Not sure of the price though and make sure if you check it out that you do not want the room with the slanting roof.

You couldn't get much more central, it's about a 5 min walk to the astronomical clock in the old town square.
It wasn't like a traditional hotel like a Hilton or anything, it had lots of character. The reception is in the restaurant. We stayed in two different rooms as we had to stay longer than expected and both rooms were fine. Breakfast was good and served in the restaurant. Every time we went into the restaurant it was full which is a good sign.
If you want something central, definitely check it out. The rooms we were in were not noisy as they are tucked in behind the buildings at the front.
If you check your other hotel choices on Google maps, you can tell distances from that. There is a scale at the bottom of the map.

I know all of your hotels except the Grand Hotel Praha, at least by location. I believe that one is right on Old Town Square, so it is obviously closest for that reason.
If you want the closest to Old Town Square other than that, choose Grand hotel Bohemia. Now I haven't been in that one, so don't know what it's like, but I considered it once as it looked nice enough from what I saw. I've stayed at the Maximilian and it's within a 20-30 minute walk to a metro stop or Old Town Square -- probably 10-15 minutes if you don't walk slowly. If you do, it's more on the upper end but should be within your limit. But if you can't decide and that is a big issue to you, which is seems to be, why not choose the closest one. The Josef is just a bit closer to Old Town Square than the Maximilian, but not much really.
I stayed at the Hotel Pariz once and you seemed to miss that in your quest. It's a very nice hotel and very near the Bohemian, so very close to Old Town Square, also.
Those hotels you picked are higher level hotels, 4-5*, you certainly can expect them to be clean. It would be disgraceful if hotels of that price and caliber were not.
If you really cannot walk more than 20-30 minutes, I think you should cross off the Maximilian and Josef. Yes, you can walk from there to the metro or Old Town Square in that tgime, but if that is the limit of your stamina, you won't have energy for all the other walking you'll have to do the rest of the day.

Thank you so much, Christina. Your information is exactly what I was looking for. I was sort of leaning toward the Bohemia and you sealed the deal. Your explanation of where the hotels are was just what I needed.
Also checked out 7 angels as recommended by Kay and would love it but I tried several different dates and there were no vacancies except for a corporate rate which we don't have.
I don't know how I would ever plan these european trips without the help of people like you who are willing to spend their time advising.
Thanks,Peggy
