Prague Hotel - Pick 1 of 4

Hi all -

It's my first time to Prague with my wife and could use some advice. I've narrowed down my research to 4 hotels. Which would you pick?

1) Hotel Leonardo
2) Hotel Savic
3) Hotel Archibald At the Charles Bridge - U Karlova Mostu
4) At The Golden Scissors Hotel - U Zlatých N?žek

Thanks!

Did you read the reviews for these hotels - perhaps that would help you decide. Tripadvisor rates Hotel Savic the highest of the 4.
We will be staying in a b&b in Prague so didn't read the reviews.

Yes, Savic. Prague 1, Old Town side and very slightly off the Royal Road. But isn't it also a little more expensive than the others?

Also Archibald at the Chales Bridge. I like its Mala Strana location. Can get pretty quiet at night. Also practical to visit empty Charles Bridge early in the morning.

The others, I have no idea where they are located.

Yes, here is the info on the b&b
Guest House Lida

We like staying at a b&b when possible - and we like having to learn to get around a city. Also we like neighborhood restaurants, markets etc.
The Guest House Lida has some good reviews. We are having them meet us at the airport.

brats and beer is what Milwaukee is famous for - and bowling too - real class

> 4) At The Golden Scissors Hotel

I see this hotel is located at the same square as Archibald. So both in Mala Staran side between the bridge and Kampa Park. Also 1) Leonaredo is near Savic, on the Old Town side. Perosnally I prefer Mala Strana area and from these hotels, it's 10 minutes walk to the Old Town square.

Thanks for the replies! Savic was booked for my nights and I booked at the Leonardo. However, I might change to one of the Mala Strana Hotels based on your comments...

Thanks for the info on the Guest House Lida, we had looked at it but as we only have 3 nights in Prague we are not sure if we would be better staying in Mala Strana.
I will also check out your ideas for that area Eastcoast. We have the Hotel Aureus Clavis as one on our hit list.

Both the Golden Scissors and U Karlova Mostu are on Kampa Island which is right under the Charles Bridge. There is a stairway from the Island going onto the bridge. IMO Kampa Island is an ideal location in Prague. U Karlova Mostu has a very popular restaurant and bar that may generate some noise at night for those staying in the rooms upstairs, although those rooms that face the river will have a wonderful view.

One hotel that you did not mention on Kampa Island is the Kampa Garden, directly across the square from U Karlova Mostu. It is a bit set back from the square and is quiet. We were there for 7 nights and liked it very much.

Having returned from a nice trip in Prague, I agree that next time I will try something in Kampa island. Although it looks very quiet at night, it's only about a 10 minute walk to the old town square on the other side of the Charles Bridge.

Yes EC, it is quiet at night. It's pretty quiet during the day too, yet close to everything.
