Prague (Czech Republic) to Vienna (Austria) through Slovakia???
Hi there! My family and I are planning a trip to visit some european cities. We are planning to rent a car in Berlin and drop it off in Rome. From Berlin, we are planning to stop in Prague, and then in Vienna. I looked at Google Earth to see how to get from Prague to Vienna, and it showed me that in some point of the motorway we must enter Slovakia. Is that true? How is the road there? Am i going to have trouble passing through Slovakia? We have mexican nationality, do we need visas just to be to be in Slovakia for a couple of hours?

no necesario....you cn drive from Prague to Vienna without going through Slovakia, which I would recommend rather than comply with any visa requirments.
From Prague, you can take the Motorway D-1 as far as Brno, then be sure to cut off for Hwy. #52 (E-461) road south straight to Austrian border at Mikulov (about 50 kms.) and
then on to Vienna on Austrian Hwy. #7 (a continuation of E-461),(about another 30 kms.). The "E" hwy. is the designation for "European Hwys.", uusally a little better mnaintained than the usual non-motorways.
As an alternative, if you'd like to go through CzR's scenic wine country (home of the famed Znojmo "purple"), get off the D-1 Motorway at Jihlava, south toward Moravske Budejovice and Znojmo on E-59. You'll be driving through a national park outside of Znojmo. At the Austrian border, continue to Vienna (Wien) on Hwy. #17 (E-59) to Hollabrunn and Stockerau where you will pick up the motorway A-22 into Vienna.
Above all, have an enjoyable, colorful trip...

P.S. By the way, one of the best places, believe it or not, to pick up some beautiful Czech glassware is at the little border stop shops in either Znojmo or Mikulov. Really!

Please slow down a bit and at least stay one night in route in Cesky Krumlov (czech republic)( fairytale town) then drive through the mountains to Linz then onto Vienna.Prague is perhaps one of the greatest cities in Europe but there is so much more to the Czech Republic- Really look into some of the wonderful towns and Castles you could see along the way. (Karstejn Castle, Hluboka Castle, Cesky Krumlov,Lednice, Telc, lots more....)

I agree with crzn1. You have to stop at Hluboka Castle, then 1 or 2 nights in Cesky Krumlov, & at least one night in Telc. We were just there in August and all these places are beautiful and memorable. Also, stop at Karlovy Vary, the spa town, if it is not out of your way. From Telc, it is a very easy drive to Znojmo, one hour away, & Znojmo is close to the Austrian border. We saw signage all the way for Vienna (Wien).

If you are interested mainly in cities, it might be better to take the train or fly between them. Cross-border drop-off fees on car rentals can be very high. If the train, I would suggest a stop in Dresden to see at a minimum the Green Vault.
