Powers court and glendalough

In May we plan to pick up a car in Dublin in the morning and drive to. Powerscourt and then to Glendalough. Is it doable to both inthe same day. both are open daily from 9:30 and till 6 PM for Glendalough. Looks like Powerscourt is about 45 minutes from Dublin and then another 45 minuets to Glendalough. It appears doable but i do not have any idea how long people usually stay at each.(I know that varies on interest).

I think it's doable. We spent several hours at each--but the way our itinerary worked, we saw them on separate days. There's a very good cafeteria at Powerscourt (the weather was perfect, so we ate outside) and we picnicked at Glendalough (the weather was lousy, so we ate in the car).

We rented a car from Hertz and picked it up at the South Circular Rd location, so we were already headed south. The website said they opened at 9; we got there a little before that and they were already open.

Yes - very doable. The grounds at Powerscourt Estate are very nice for a stroll but take notice that the waterfall is on a separate site. There isn't a huge amount of things to see at Powerscourt, but the self-service restaurant is good.

Glendalough is a favourite place of mine and if you get good weather is a gorgeous place for a walk. I'd spend a lot more time there than in Powerscourt. Perhaps plan to visit the waterfall, have lunch in Powerscourt Estate and then walk off the calories in Glendalough?

We picked up rental car in Dun Laoghaire and went to both in a leisurely day. Got lunch in Powerscourt cafeteria and took it to the waterfall for a picnic.

We were staying at a B&B very near Glendalough. Mid-afternoon on a Sunday there was absolutely no parking so we went to the B&B and would have walked back down the river but Granny didn't think she could ford the river on the stepping stones so we waited a bit and drove back when the crowds had thinned out.

I agree that both are very doable in a day and that I would spend more of my time at Glendalough than Powerscourt even though I mightily enjoyed the gardens there.
