Power and voltage converters

Heading to Spain with an IBM lap top. What type of power converter will be needed as well as voltage converter. Anyone know?

Look at the power supply (a.k.a. "brick" or AC adapter) that came with your computer.

If it says 110-240VAC (or similar), all you need is a plug adapter to fit the plug into a European socket.

On the off chance it's a single-voltage device, you also need a transformer to change the European voltage to 110.

Hi B,

>On the off chance it's a single-voltage device,...<

Get a newer, dual voltage power supply.

If the IBM was manufactured within the past 6 or 7 years, it is dual voltage, and, as already mentioned, all you will need is the plug adapter ($2 to $3 in any travel store).

You might want to consider a portable surge protector if you plan on leaving the unit plugged in for any length of time.
