Possible rough Stockholm itinerary

Am drawing up a possible rough itinerary for Stockholm. Would appreciate feedback, though not of the "stop and smell the roses" type. Would of course adjust according to days and hours open.

1. One day
Stockholm Cathedral
Royal Palace
Riddarholm Church
Millesgarden
House of Culture (evening)

2. Another day
City Hall tour
Hallywyl Museum tour
Historical Museum
Stockholm City Museum

3. Yet another day
Kungstradt Garden
National Museum
Museum of Architecture
Modern Art Museum

4. Still another day
Vasa Museum
Nordic History Museum
Thiel Gallery
Waldemarsudde
Katarina Elevator (for view)

5. And one final day
Drottningholm
Skansen

Would incorporate walking around Gamla Stan as part of this before, during, or after.

Am thinking none of these museums are huge, but could be wrong.

Am looking at the daytrip possibilities besides Drottningholm (Vaxholm, Mariefred, Uppsala) and am not especially overwhelmed with any of them. Are any of these a must?

I don't see the Nobel Museum in Gamla Stan on your list. Don't miss it! We thought it was fascinating!

Millesgarden takes a bit of time to get to.

You are right - museum you have listed are not large. There is a nice view from the Moder Art Museum cafeteria.
Gamla Stan is the Old Town - you'll be walking through it one way or another.
Go to the garden of the City Hall (right on the water ), the view at sunset is lovely.
Stockholm is a beautiful city ( except around the train station)

Wonderful that you are interested to see so much of Stockholm.

Since you will be doing so many museums you may want to look into the 'Stockholm card' (395 SEK) which can be purchased online at or at the tourist info center. It allows entrance into 75 museums and includes a public transportation pass.

www.stockholmtown.com (It is the official site of the Stockholm Visitor Bureau.)

This is also an excellent resource to find out about current events in town. We have so many fun events during the summer including the International Jazz Festival and the Volvo Ocean Race.

If you wanted to pay seperately you may like to look at the transport passes available for 24,36,72 hours. The passes are valid on all forms of transport (bus, underground, tram).
