Positano or Amalfi Hotel

Hello All,
Please help us with our hotel for 3 nights mid-May in either Amalfi or Positano We want a balcony with an sea view, lean more toward a "classic grand" hotel style than "modern spa resort". Swimming pool is something we will not use, as we will be sight seeing. (I am sure they all have one, but pool size or location would not be a priority for us.) Budget--willing to pay for a 4-5*, if the hotel is really worth it. We have been looking at Santa Caterina, Palazzo Murat, Villa Rosa, etc.

Thank you!

We stayed at Villa Rosa and the view from our balcony was stunning and the room was nice. Your breakfast is served on the balcony. BUT there were 75 steps to our room, no elevators. Our friends had over 100 steps to their room. Parking is a few blocks away.

We enjoyed our stay but just be forewarned of the steps.

Not sure I want a Thigh-Master workout every day!!! We are in ok shape--but that would certainly be something we would need to be sure we wanted to deal with!

I stayed at Palazzo Talamo - It was absolutely wonderful but I am not sure if it is quite what you are looking for.... Also a little high up the hill!

I can endorse the Palazzo Murat. The rooms are very good, as is the food and it's ideally located.

Take a look at Onda Verde in Praiano, halfway between Amalfi and Positano. Right on the road, elevator and great views from all rooms.

Thanks for the recommendations! Will check them out...don't mind some steps, but 100 is a bit labor intensive!

All of these get great reviews on TA and booking.com...that's part the problem!!!

Any recommendations for the Santa Caterina?
