Positano

We plan on spending 5 nights in Positano in early September. Not sure how to get there.... . I understand that the drive from Amalfi to Positano is the most scenic. Is it better to take the train to Salerno and find a driver there or find a driver to meet us in Naples and get to Positano..... Then are there options available for driving from Positano to Amalfi? Prefer to take a tour.... Not interested in driving it ourselves! Would prefer a drive In a car rather than a bus....thanks in advance.....

Did you value to ask your hotel to arrange transfer? Have a look on http://www.palazzomurat.it/tours-and...es-in-positano and ask concierge to help you, if you are not interested in driving (I completely agree with you) this could be the best solution,

A driver from Naples to Positano will cost you about 125 euros. We used Positano Limo. They can also provide car service between Positano and Amalfi. There are several other companies that provide the service, too.

I am pretty sure you can take a boat from Salerno to Positano ( and definitely to Amalfi) although I am not sure of the schedule in September. The ride is only about 45 minutes.

You can also take a boat from Positano to Amalfi ( about 20+ minutes), which is very scenic and a great way to tour the coast.

For drivers, I can highly recommend the Gargiulos of Tourofitaly.com. We've used them for many trips to the AC and transfers from Naples to Positano and/or Rome.

Thank you all for your advice. This forum is an excellent source of info. The hotel does provide transportation from Naples, and we are considering that. But I read that the most scenic part of the drive in south from Positano to Amalfi. I was asking how others would recommend that we see that part of the drive. I was thinking that using a driver would be better than a bus, but I didn't know if tours by car were available from Positano. The hotel suggested a bus, ferry, or scooter. Not interested in a scooter! So again, I was wondering if we should try to train to Salerno and then find a driver north, or would we be able to find a tour in Positano going to Amalfi. I guess I was also asking if seeing that area by ferry or on the road was best.

I was last in the area many years ago, and three crazy girls in our 20's drove the route, not knowing what to expect! I remember it as being a very scary drive, but beautiful !

I highly recommend the train to Salerno and then a ferry from Salerno to Positano (it stops in Amalfi on the way). A wonderful way to see the coast.

I second the advice of ekc to train to Salerno and then ferry to Positano. This is exactly what we did when we went last year and it was a wonderful way to travel. I am so glad that I arrived to Positano via ferry!!

I also would recommend the ferry from Salerno to Positano. Train station is a short
walk to ferry dock. we actually did the reverse. Went from Positano to Salerno. Very easy.
We were catching the train to Rome. I didn't see where you were leaving from.
We departed on Oct 1st . Ferries were still running then.
