My husband and I will be in Portugal this October for 7 days. We're having a tough time figuring out where to go. We plan on using only public transportation so that may limit us. We'd really like to see some places a little less touristy. We'd like to see some coastal towns, but everything that I've read says that the old fishing towns are hardly there anymore due to tourism. For sure, our itinerary will include Lisbon and Sintra, but other than that we are up in the air.
Cascais and Nazare have relatively good reviews but still seem too built up for my taste. Thoughts? Other fishing villages near there?
Is the Algarve worth the trip? It looks like it will take us a half of day to get down there and a half a day back. We aren't going to be in Portugal very long. Doesn't seem worth the travel to us if we can see pretty coastal also north of Lisbon.
Evora worth it? Been to Rome so the roman ruins don't excite me, but the chapel of bones sounds cool.
Obidos? Much to do there but walk around? Sounds very quaint though. Worth a full day or half?
Looking for that beautiful coastal town (preferably north of Lisbon) that doesn't have huge hotels and high rises! Share your hidden gems! What I want to find is the old Cinque Terre again
Thanks for your advice!

Obidos is worth about 2 hours - it's very small.
Evora is 2 hours by train from Lisbon so you could do this as a day trip. There should be a taxi or two at the train station to take you to the center of town or you could walk it if you're good walkers.
Can't help with the coastal towns as I did the center of Portugal.
Evora was one of our favorite towns.
