Portugal end of August - Barcelos - clothing?

Jump to last reply

Hello everyone, I really need your help with this one! I am from eastern europe, my boyfriend is Portuguese but was raised in the UK. We are going to spend the last week of August somewhere in Barcelos, Portugal. I have never been there before and I stress about the smallest things, especially abot what I should pack, which is silly in his opinion! I would normally wear long silk monocolor skirts with simple tops and flats/sandals, jeans and light tops / T-shirts and flats, but I have a feeling that their culture is a bit different.. I can't wear short dresses without heels as my legs are not perfect and I wouldn't wear heels unless it's necessary..

Another problem is church. We are going to his grandparents' wedding anniversary in a Catholic church and I have no idea what I should wear there either although i'm Catholic myself.

I read on one forum that bright red nails and wearing bright colors in general is not common. Is that true? Red is my favorite color!

I would really like his family and friends to get to know me for who I am but I wouldn't want cultural differences to interfere with that and send the wrong message, so I will very much appreciate any answer and advice on the subject!
