Portugal Advice

Hi Fellow Travelers,
I booked a flight into Lisbon from May 10-20, 2008. I know that we want to spend about 3-4 days in Lisbon, but then want to get a villa and have family and friends join us. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be a great area to do this in?

I was very much taken by the coastal areas of Cascais and Estoril. I have no idea what type of accommodations you might find. They looked like "resort" towns to me. Might be nice weather in May too

Of course there are many web pages you can research but one that I think might be overlooked at times is Nancy's Portugal.

Just Google it. We rented one of the accomodations listed there on the Lisbon Coast and were very pleased. I noticed a Quinta near Nazare in one of the listings that sleeps 8.

Good luck.

The town of Sintra is lovely and there are a lot of sites nearby or easily accessed by transportation; I stayed there for two weeks (minus a three day quick trip to Madeira) in the Old City section and really enjoyed it.

We rented 3 small private houses in the Rossio area, the freguesia Pena, and loved the location! Do you want city or country? We went in early August (12 of us!)Also we used a car service for 2 days to travel around the outskirts, but I highly recommend the city life!

Here is a link to the houses we rented in Lisbon center. Not particularly cheap but spectacular for location, and ammenities, the owners were always available. Casa Joaquina was our favorite for the roof-top terrace with grill. http://www.visitingportugal.com/casajoaquina.htm
Also, here is the link to the car service, ask for Rui as a driver, he was terrific! [email protected]
