Portovenere to Portofino

Jump to last reply

My husband is very upset. Because of what happened with the Concordia, the Italian government has diverted our ship from Portofino (to perform tests in the water depth) to Portovenere for the day in September. He desperately wants to see Portofino. It sounds like to get out of Portovenere you have to either take the public bus, taxi or ferry to La Spezia to get to Santa Margarita by car or train. From what I can gather all of the ferry's make multiple stops. Someone else mentioned that it is difficult to get there by car because of the road being wiped out by the floods of last year???? Is this true?

I am having difficulty finding info for a private car and driver in Portovenere. Any suggestions? I can't even seem to find a tourist office email address for Portovenere.

After we get off the ship in Rome we are picking up a car and driving to Montepulciano for 2 nights, Florence for 1 night and then on to Parma for one night before heading to Milan to pick up our flight. It appears that Portofino is pretty far north to try and include this in our itinerary.
