Porto to Lisbon and the airport

My husband and I will be taking the train back from Porto to Lisbon on May 21st to catch our flight back to the States early on the 22nd. I was thinking we should stay in a hotel near either the train station or the airport to make a 7 am at the airport arrival easy. Any suggestions? And which train station does the train from Porto take you to in Lisbon? The train schedules haven't made that entirely clear to me. It seems like the train might go to several train stations in Lisbon and the Gare de Oriente is closest. Advice gratefully received.

See: http://www.ana.pt/en-US/Aeroportos/l...Transport.aspx

The airport is quite close to the city center. That early in the day I'd be inclined to take a taxi, although the metro is now an option.

Looks like the direct train is Porto Campanha to Lisbon Oriente. Not really an area I'd pick to stay in, although I did have a good meal at a hotel in Oriente last trip it wasn't that close to the train station.

I'd stay downtown and have the hotel order a taxi. The last time we used a taxi, from Cascais to the airport, it was €35 and took around 30 minutes.

The metro opens at 6:30am every morning, not early enough for a 7:00 flight. If you want to be really, really close to the airport, there is a Wyndham Tryp hotel just across the street from the main terminal. Otherwise, taxi or shuttle bus.

Just a word about the Wyndham Tryp hotel at the Lisbon airport, should you decide on that option: we stayed there a few weeks ago so that we could catch a 6:10 am flight to Munich. We were extremely pleased with the hotel. The room was comfortable, the staff were excellent, and the food quite decent.

If you are up for it, the walk to the airport is about five minutes. Alternatively, the front desk staff will arrange for a shuttle.

Kathryn,
How did this work out for you. We will be doing the same thing soon, Porto to Lisbon to catch a flight. I would appreciate any info you have.

Thank You,

Gary R
