Greetings fellow travelers:
We'll be taking an extended trip through Italy in the fall, and wanted very much to spend a couple weeks in an apartment in or near Orvieto. We found one that looks promising in Porano - has anyone been there? Is there a town within walking distance? (Although we'll have a car with us, we really enjoy being able to walk into a local village for shopping and piazza sitting). How close is it for trips into Orvieto? Grazie!

You should be able to use Google maps to call up a map of Porano, and find the estimated driving and walking time. You should ask your potential landlord for the location of nearby shops, cafes, restaurants. You can look online to find the population of Porano.
Maybe someone here has stayed in Porano, but learning to use Google maps is a great asset.
Zeppole - thanks, and yes, we do routinely use Google maps. I just like to use this forum to see if another traveler has first hand knowledge of a particular place.
Your question puzzled me because Porano is a town. I'm not sure anybody will understand where you are staying if you are asking if there is a town within walking distance. Do you mean another town besides Porano? if you zoom in on Porano on a google map you can see it has restaurants, etc.
