Poland thru "Sophisticated Traveler"

I am looking for an escorted tour of Poland and the one that looks best for me is thru "Sophisticated Traveler". Has anyone ever used them? Any other suggestions? I am traveling alone, want to see the historic WWII sights as well as the countryside. This tour is 8 days, all-inclusive and total cost including air is $3100. Is that reasonable?

While I have never bought anything from Sophisticated Traveler (they sell consolidator-priced flights as well as tours), I did have an enjoyable telephone conversation with the owner a few years ago, nd I was very imprssed (I ended up buying the air travel I needed elsewhere).

I have to believe that he would provide contact info for some satisfied customers, if asked.

For what it's worth, it's a little bit difficult to comment on the price of a tour that includes air - - if you don't tell us where is you origination... Philadelphia? Honolulu? Sydney? Dublin?

Best wishes,

Rex

Try "ORBIS". Tour should include, Lancut and Lichen.

You could shop around a bit to see if you get better price - not sure when you are flying or what is included on tour (all meals, passes etc.)? so if this is high season substract $1000 for a round trip from your desination then devide rest by 7 you get around $300 per 7 nights now consider price of hotels for a single and all the extras - food, tickets, guide transport ... for 8days)... ;-)

Adding to Rex comments - Again all depands what is included ...

To shop around try maybe a Polish Agency in USA - ie. http://www.amta.com/

But again make sure you are comparing apples to apples

syclark - What did you decide to do? I am considering using Sophisticated Traveler for an independent trip to Krakow and Prague and would love to hear more if you used them. Thanks.

PatRode: I did book thru them and had a great trip. I had only one problem but it was a big one. Flying out of Warsaw to go home - they didnt have my reservation. I ended up missing my flight and it was a bit of a mess. However, I don't think it was Sophisticated Travelers fault - it was the airline. My reservation was there - the agents (3 different ones I spoke to) just couldnt see it.

How awful! But those things do happen even when you book yourself. I researched the cost of booking everything on my own, and Sophisticated Traveler came out cheaper, though I learned they can only book through Lufthansa for my trip so the flights are limited. But thanks for the information!

Has anyone used Sophisticated Traveler as a single? I am thinking of using them for Prague trip in the Fall. Rates are really great. What is the maximum number of people on their tours?

I used them as a single and really had a great time. My tour had 22 people and about 5 of us were singles. They arranged everything for me and I had no problems they could have prevented. I would absolutely recommend them!
