Poland guidebook recommendations
I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for good, comprehensive guidebooks for Poland that can be combined with online research. On Amazon, I didn't seem to find a Rough Guide, which are generally good. And, Eyewitness was the only Poland guidebook that Borders had in stock and it is (being charitable) pretty thin.
Thank you, in advance, for sharing which book(s) you like!

I thought Lonely Planet was very good (and quite thick). Then again, I travel on a budget, so I can't advise for a more upscale Polish vacation.
I do suggest you get a guidebook because after we lost ours in Krakow the rest of our 3 dyas in Poland we could not find any English guidebooks for sale in Poland (like Lonely Planet) and with our extremely limited Polish it was hard to figure things out. I still do not know what I was eating those days!

LP is a fine suggestion - it just helps to hear from those who used it. Lizzy, having lost guidebooks at the onset of two vacations (once in rural Hungary), I can empathize. ;-)
Katie, thanks for the note on Rough Guide. The series is very good and it appears my initial Amazon search wasn't particularly thorough.
Thanks for the recs! This is long-range planning for April/May 2007, but I'm starting virtually with very limited knowledge and really would like to start researching.

Hi
Check Amazon again Rough Guide has the 6th edition out. I have the 5th and found it to be one of the best guidebooks I've used. In June or July Michelin Green guide is coming out with a guidebook to Poland. I'm planning my 3rd trip there and I'm waiting for the Green guide. I usually like their roadtrips. If I don't get it get the new Rough Guide. I totally dislike Lonely Planet and find the guide to Poland biased. The new Rough Guide is out.
