Please critique my Languedoc, Lot & Dordogne Itinerary, Take 2

Since my last post in January I’ve been doing lots of research on Fodors and elsewhere and here’s what I’ve got so far.

We (my husband and I) are flying from Vancouver to Barcelona and staying there 4 nights. I’ve booked the train from Barca to Perpignan on May 7th and we’re picking up our car from the station there about 11am. I still plan on getting some Michelin regional maps but haven’t done that yet.

1st night is at b&b in Limoux (Domaine St George)
Between Perpignan and Limoux we hope to see all or some of these castles: Queribus, Peyrepertuse, Puylaurens - hopefully being able to hike up to at least one of them.

Maybe go to Carcassonne for dinner? – it’s about 25 minutes drive from Limoux

Day 2 – this is May 8th, a national holiday in France so I thought we’d better pack a picnic – not sure if we’ll find a place open for lunch.

From Limoux drive to Lastours & climb to the chateau there – spend a couple of hours here.

Continue via Revel, Graulhet, Albi & Villefranche de Rouergue to our next b&b which is in Calvignac (Mas de Garrigue), in time for dinner there. Is this a good route? We’re skipping Toulouse this trip.

Day 3 – relax at b&b – drive to Cahors for lunch.

Day 4 – Saturday – Figeac Market - Grotte de Peche Merle- dinner at Mas de Garrigue

Day 5 – Sunday we head to our apartment in Sarlat for 4 nights.

While here we will have a “cave day” at Font de Gaume (we have a reservation already) and Lascaux II.

Would also like to do some walks and scenic drives through some of the plus beaux villages. So much to see. I hope the weather is good!

Day 9 – drive to Brive to drop off car at 3pm and on the train to Paris. Booked tkts for 15 euros each which I was happy about.
