Hi, we are novices to this canal boat holiday. We are a family of 5 and are looking to do a canal boat journey from trebes, near carcassonne to narbonne. Has anyone done that before? Any suggestions? Also does anyone know if you can hire a car one way from narbonne to nice, or should we just train it? Planning to go in August

UK Trip, Final Chapter

We did a short, 3-day cruise on this part of the canal from Trèbes to Carcassonne one day, then back through Trèbes to Marseillette the second day, then back to Trèbes. This was the first week in April when it was pleasantly cool and there was little traffic on the canal. I might be concerned in August with the possibility of very hot weather and also mosquitos.
There's another new thread on this subject that you might want to take a look at:

Also this thread on Trip Advisor that brings up both positive and negative experiences:

As far as hiring a car one way within France, many rental agencies do not charge a one-way fee. Check AutoEurope or Kemwel.
I believe that Autoeurope/Kemwel have a minimum rental period of three days.
