Planning our honeymoon in Europe February 2014 !!

Hello Forum Members !!!!!

Have read a lot about this community n i think its time for me n my fiance to put up our honeymoon query !! We are from New Delhi, India, and are planning to visit Europe, particularly Spain or Greece + Santorini from 24th Feb for approx 14 days to make an Island/-City combination !!
I would want you experienced comments on comparing Spain to Greece+santorini:

1). Is this the best time to Visit Spain or Greece n Santorini in terms of weather, off/peak season because from what I know, Switzerland, France, Italy etc are usually very cold at this time of year n we don't want our honeymoon to be spent wearing layers !!

2).Would Spain n its beaches or Santorini be most suitable Island for this time keeping in mind that we would not want too hot or too cold, so a stable weather to enjoy the at the weather with good sea temperature cos without Santorini am not sure Greece on its own would complete a honeymoon feel !!

3). Please help us make an itinerary for these 14 days including a beautiful romantic island honeymoon followed by a crazy adventurous city with brilliant nightlife in Greece pointing what places can we visit !!!!!

4). And what budget shall we be hoping to end up for a week in any of the beaches at a nice resort or villa !!! We are planning to spend approx $3000-$4000 for the honeymoon excluding the travel tickets !!

ANy other inputs will be greatly appreciated please !!!

Thanks a lot in advance !!

If you want a nice warm beach in Feb, go to the Caribbean or Hawaii because it will not be beach weather in Spain or Santorini then.

no, it's not the best time, it is winter in Europe and no place in Europe is near the equator in latitude, there isn't any tropical place. You can't go to the beaches in February, at least not to go in the water unless you like it really cold. Spain is no different from Italy -- well, okay a little bit as Spain is farther south than northern Italy.

here is the weather in Santorini in February http://www.holiday-weather.com/santo...ages/february/

It's a little bit colder in Spain, such as water temp at Mallorca. http://www.seatemperature.org/europe.../palma-may.htm

No, there's not likely to be "stable weather" and there certainly won't be good water temperatures. Moreover, your budget doesn't seem adequate - even if you have $4,000, that $285 a day for two people, which is about 200 euros. It will be hard to find hotels, even inexpensive ones and even in February, for 100 euros or less, and then you've got food and transportation and entrance fees and that "brilliant nightlife" you mentioned. Sorry, but this sounds unrealistic.

Hi Kunal
Hearty Congrats for the coming wedding .Feb is a bad time to visit Europe ..it will be really cold .I would suggest you to change your destination of your honeymoon and visit Europe between April and September .

You also have a post in teh US forum for the same dates, so I guess Europe is not set in stone. I hope you have read those answers too.
If you want warm, and beach then you need tropical or southern hemisphere in February.

You could consider a few days on a Canary island for some beach weather in addition to a visit to mainland Spain maybe, but even then though you have more chance of beach weather it is not guaranteed.

There is no place in europe in Feb with beach weather. And beach resorts/islands will be largely shut. You cannot go swimming them and would have to walk the beach fully clothes - possibly with a jacket.

All of europe is temperate and while the most southern parts usually don;t get snow (although southern Spain does in the mountains) it is NOT summer weather.

And again - your budget is very tight for what sounds like you want a whiz band honeymoon. And no nightlife on the islands - just geezers playing checkers or bocce.

Since you are coming from India, why not go someplace like Thailand or the Seychelles? Beautiful beaches, closer and definitely beach weather - no need for layers.

I don't think the OP is actually going to Europe - he has started 4 different nearly identical threads saying they will be in the USA, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe . . . .ALL on February 24.

Not that they are trying to decide which region to visit, but that will be in each of them.

So until the OP comes back to clarify things I'm not sure there really is a trip. . .

Well, I hope that $4,000 isn't meant to cover them all, or even any one of them. Sounds like a non-starter.

Hawaii is incredibly expensive. San Francisco is cold in February.

Mexico and Costa Rica could work.

Maldives and New Zealand would work, as presumably airfare would be less that crossing half the world.

Kunal- Hawaii is definitely a must go, SFO won't be great weather in Feb. However if you prefer cheaper options I recommend going to Mexico
