Planning 2 Months in Italy - Itinerary Help!

Hello! My husband and I are planning to spend May and June in Italy - we figure this is a once in a lifetime chance before we have kids. We've already been to Portofino, Lake Como and Venice (all of which we love!), but are looking to explore the central/southern part of Italy and take in the culture. We live in NYC so we prefer to explore the less traveled "tourist-y" roads/sites, but may still want to catch some that are worth it.

Right now, are plans are to spend the first two weeks in Florence as a base, and take day trips to Tuscany. Any recommendations on a good part of town to stay in Florence?

The second two weeks we've talked about spending in the Umbria region, but not sure where yet. We could either spend two weeks in one town or split it up and spend a week in two different areas (again, not sure where yet).

For the last month, we're planning to spend it in the Amalfi Coast. We have a house booked the first two middle weeks of June in Praiano, but the first and last weeks on the AC are open.

Any suggestions on towns we should visit (via day trip) or stay at would be really appreciated!
