Place to visit for 1 night somewhere between Salzburg & Baden-Baden

We are going to be traveling from Salzburg to Baden-Baden and are looking for a nice place to visit and spend one night to break up the drive as we have a young child traveling with us. Suggestions of cities as well as hotels would be appreciated! Thanks!

Looks like you will be traveling the A8. Augsburg would be a nice place to spend the afternoon/evening.

Augsburg fills the bill. So does Bamburg. Nürnberg is also a worthy candidate.

Ulm is a worthy alternative; stayt the Ulmer Spatz, directly adjacent to the amazing Munster. Some details here on this forum on contacting the hotel. Search "Ulmer". Best wishes, Rex

I'm a big fan of small, quaint villages, especially when you have only a one-night stop. Easier to get into and out of, generally. My choice would be either Ottobeuren, south of Ulm, or Zwiefalten, southwest of Ulm. Both are lovely villages with nice little hotels. On the way, however, no matter where you stop, I'd agree with Rex that you should see the cathedral at Ulm. Have a good trip.
