Hi Stacey - She will have no problem in either airport. Both airports deal with English-speakers day-in, day-out.

Both are small, and English-speaking staff are plentiful - as in any European airport.

Treviso is about an hour by bus from Piazzale Roma, but Pisa is a couple of hundred miles from Venice, across Northern Italy, so Treviso of these two.

However, can't you get a flight from Venice Marco Polo airport? This is close to the city across the lagoon and is easily reachable by waterbus. Whatever the difference in cheap flight cost is, it is probably very cheap to buy a one way from Marco Polo back to Schipol rather than incur the cost and hassle in getting to Treviso.

I'm confused. where in Italy will you be? if you're in Venice, i understand why you would put her on the bus at the Piazzale Roma, but if you aren't, why not just drive her to the airport? and why treviso not marco polo?

[ok, i think I know the answer to that - the flights from Marco Polo to Schipol are with KLM/Alitalia and cost an arm and a leg = presumably you're using Ryanair from Treviso]

I don't know Treviso - i've always flown into Marco polo, but certainly Pisa airport is fine - lots of signs in english, the staff all speak english, but the food [and the shops] are italian! [i bought some lovely leather purses from the airside shop which my DD and I use every day]

If she can get from Australia to Amsterdam, why wouldn't she be able to get to get from Italy to Amsterdam? She's 19 - not 9.

Treviso is a hell of a way from Tuscany, and quite a hike from Venice

Put her on a train at Florence SMN station for Pisa airport. Then come back here if you need to find out the painless way for her to see the Piazza dei Miracoli en route (one of the world's most beautiful squares, in spite of the silly tourist stunt of an amateurishly engineered belltower)

or go to www.skyscanner.com and find a different budget carrier

Thanks for all of the advice. The reason we are thinking Pisa or Florence is we have decided to fly her on Transavia. We go to Florence after the wedding hence why Pisa is a possibility and then follow that with Venice. Either way, we would be required to put her on a bus/train as we are trying to avoid the loss of a day by escorting her to the airport. Yes, she is not 9 and definitely why I am here asking the questions. I want her to take the most direct route where she does not need to detour that way no chance of her somehow getting way layed and missing her flight. Both options certainly seem doable thanks to your advice. Thanks again.

aha - I understand now why you can choose either Pisa or Treviso.

she could catch a train to Pisa Airport [some are direct, some you have to change at Pisa Centrale] from Florence SMN station, or catch the bus to Treviso airport from Venice Tronchetto. [not Piazzale Roma - see map attached].

The regular ATVO bus to Treviso airport takes about an hour and departs from Piazzale Roma. She should have no problems using either airport, both are small and well signed in English.
