I know this train ride has been discussed, but I'm looking for recent experiences? Considering checking it out for late December transportation from Digne to Nice. Anyone ever ride the train in winter? thanks!

I've been on this train about seven times: Once from Digne to Nice, but most often from Nice to Entrevaux where friends own a house. Regardless of its 'quaint' name and reputation, it is a very ordinary conveyance. It is really an old diesel bus on rails, and the rails are none too smooth. It pales into insignificance compared to most of the 'mountain' railways in Switzerland. In short, its publicity is a lot better than its actuality. November is the latest that I have taken this train, and the ride was similar to other times of the year.
