Piacenza, Parma, Modena, Bologna opinions please?

On our planned trip next spring from Como into Tuscany we are thinking that we might break up the drive by spending one night in one of the above cities. We would plan to leave Como at around noon or 1 o'clock and travel to this overnight destination, so we would have the evening and the following morning until about the same time to do some exploring. Since we know virtually nothing about this region (I believe the Emilia Romagna) and since we will be on our way to a villa where we will have cooking facilities, could you please provide some insight into which city might be best to overnight in?

Thank you in advance!
