Piz Gloria is a place I will never forget. Just getting up there by several different trains, gondolas, etc. was fun & interesting. Then seeing the view of the mountains with the snow sparkling in the sun---a real wow moment.

The James Bond thing didn't mean much to me, but the surroundings were so magnificent and stunning. We had lunch(don't remember what) and it was just beautiful sitting at the window table with the restaurant revolving and the view ever changing.

We were there in June so it was warm down below and quite cool on the mountaintop. It was also quite clear. Now on an overcast, rain, or snow day, it may be a total different experience.

IMO, go for it, you won't be sorry.

If the weather is nice, absolutely. If it is overcast, I would skip. On the way up, you can stop in Murren that is very nice.
The food at the Schilthorn is not very interesting. Go back to Murren to have lunch or dinner.
You can hike from the Schilthorn to Murren.

The James Bond thing? Meh.

The food? Not sure, but didn't look especially interesting.

This is a very weather dependent destination. It is probably not the food you are going after, but the view from the rotating restaurant. Take the Stechelberg to Murren aerial tram at least one way preferably going up. It is one of those that gives you suspended in the air feeling. You can see the videos at Youtube.

The trip from Luzern to the Schilthorn will take 4h in each direction, so you are looking at spending 8h inside a closed-up, moving box in one day. To me, this is FAR too much of a good thing. I limit my day-trips to 2h in each direction, or there is rapidly diminishing joy in the day.

Why travel so far to the Schilthorn when you have so many peaks just outside of Luzern? Try Pilatus, Rigi, or Titlis to get your top-of-the-mountains experience.
