Thanks for the help from this board in planning our trip. It was a great success. My wife and our 2 boys, 15 and 13, arrived in Dusseldorf from Miami the morning of July 18, picked up a rental car and drove in a big circle:

Gent – 1 night
Bruges – 3 nights (Damme)
Senlis, France – 3 nights (Pierrefonds, Dunjon de Vez, Chantilly, Paris, Fontainebleau)
Vézelay – 1 night (stops in Semur-en-Auxois, Châteauneuf, Beaune, Besançon)
Ribeauvillé – 5 nights (Riquewihr, Kaysersberg, Colmar, Obernai, Haut-Kœnigsbourg, St. Odile)
Rothenburg ob der Tauber – 1 night (Schwäbisch Hall, Würzburg)
Bamberg – 3 nights (Coburg)
Eisenach – 1 night (Alsfeld)
Dusseldorf – 1 night

So far I have the photos up from the first 8 nights and will have the rest up as soon as I can manage. Eventually I hope to caption the pictures and write up a traditional report, but in the meantime some folks may enjoy looking at just the pictures. Our favorite places were wherever we were on the cooler days and our least favorite places were wherever we were during the two heat waves we encountered. Also, the Dunjon de Vez was especially nice as we were entirely alone there (not even a caretaker) for the entire afternoon.
