Petrin Hill and Prague Castle
Hello! Everyone on this site is so kind and helpful I can't help but keep coming back with questions =)
I'm going to Prague in the middle of August along with the rest of the world, so I was wondering, is it possible to do Prague Castle and Petrin Hill in one day? I know there will incredibly long tourist lines, but if we block early morning/afternoon for Prague Castle + Lunch and late afternoon/night for Petrin Hill + Dinner, could it be done?
In Prague Castle I'd like to see St. Vitus, Golden Lane, and one or two gardens at least.
As for Petrin, I would like to just go up the observation tower.
Actually, I heard that the tower is open until 10pm, so I wouldn't mind spending the whole day at Prague castle then going over to Petrin for dinner, and walking around the hill at night. It's safe, right?
Also, during summers, how important is it that we get reservations at restaurants?

yes ,no problem ,you can easily walk from the castle area to petrin Tower in about 15 minutes and it is a very pleasant walk. I often take the Fennicular up to petrin tower then walk through the park to the Strahov Monastry and then walk down to the castle area from there.
for you I would suggest getting to the castle first thing in the morning and buy one of the short tour tickets that allow you into the full St Vitus area (you can get in to the front part free) and also Golden Lane as well as some other places. The gardens are very nice and well worth wandering through.once finished in the castle head down the hill and take a tram along to Ujezd stop (Hotel Roma) and then take the fennicular up to the Petrin tower you can use your transport ticket for this (worth getting a 110kc 24 hour pass)
As to restaurant reservation worth booking if you want a particular restaurant esoecially in the main tourist areas but there are lots of places you can just walk in.
