Perouges
Recently I had a question about day trips from Lyon. One suggestion I received was Perouges(thanks Christina and Neckervd). I understand there is train and bus access. My husband and I both have some back problems and am wondering if there is a lot of uphill walking to get into the village.

The name of the village or commune is Meximieux in French. Its name was derived from a Gallo-Roman estate. The bus makes several stops around that area, one at the train station in Meximieux. https://ville-meximieux.fr/
But the bus also stops at the Gendarmerie/bifurcation stop, however I think that is almost the same distance to the town center (about 2 km). SO maybe going to the train station would work better as it might be easier to get a taxi there.
This mioght give you an idea of what it's like. http://www.francethisway.com/places/perouges.php
This website has an aerial view of it, you can tell it's on a hill http://www.france-beautiful-villages.org/en/perouges
I remember Clinton was there once when the G7 summit was in Lyon. old Youtube of Bill and Hill back in the day, visiting Perouges
