Didn't stay there but saw the signs when I was on Santorini last week. It's at the end of Ia (towards Fira) but within walking distance of lots of good restaurants in Ia. I checked on it before we went but it seemed really expensive. We stayed at the Cheledonia Villas, traditional caves in the middle of town for about $100 per night for a suite. It wasn't fancy but nice enough and the rooms (including the bathroom) were large. It was a 20-30 minute drive from Kamari.
Whatever you do, stay in Ia. Everyone on this board said that and I agree. I thought Fira was too touristy and not as picturesque as Ia. I could've spent weeks in our cool cave suite in Ia, no problem. Don't think I would've been so happy in Fira.
When are you going? Are you going to any other islands?

For beaches, I would recommend Naxos over Santorini. It may not be a dramatic as Santorini, but I prefer it. The beaches on Santorini tend to be rocky or very hot sand (make sure you bring water shoes to get around!). Naxos beaches were sandy and beautiful. One of them on the outskirts of Naxos town was very shallow - lots of children there.

Mind you, I'm glad we visited Santorini as well. We spent 4 days (5 nights) there, which was maybe one day more than we needed. We rented a car - it was inexpensive (about $40 Canadian / day) which included insurance and taxes, and it was well worth it. It was small, but would be fine for 2 adults and 2 children. I liked being able to move around there.

Oia is beautiful, but you know, the island isn't that big - you can easily drive from point A to point B in a short time.

Ian-
Stayed at Perivolas Sept. 2000. It was beautiful and the staff very friendly. They do have a little restaurant that serves breakfast & lunch, but not dinner. 15 min walk into town (Oia) for dinner. Brkfst is included.
