Pergamon Museum-Berlin
How to avoid waiting in the long lines to get in?
Is it advantageous to by tickets online and if so what is the link?
What parts are closed?
We like to have a late breakfast is there a better time to go to avoid the lines other than early in the morning?

Long lines?
I walked right in when visiting Berlin in December, 2007.
Bought my ticket at the museum. I stayed at Hotel Melia right around the corner on the Friedrichstraße.
There weren't that many people in the museum.
I sat on the steps of the Pergamon Altar.
It is really something to see, along with the Ishtar Gate.
The Gemaldegalerie is another fantastic museum in Berlin. There is a mesmerising Vermeer-Woman with Pearl Necklace-on exhibit.

The advice above is 100% correct. We found the 3 day Berlin Museum Pass to be excellent value - we bought ours at the ticket booth on Museum Island. No admission lines at any of the museums in early October.

And because of Thin's recommendation we visited the Gemaldegalerie (Kulturforum) to see this Vermeer. It is wonderful.

The Pergamon is wonderful! When I was there in 1995, it was very crowded. I envy Thin's quiet moments on the steps of the Pergamon Altar! If a pass will get you to the front of tyne line, go for it!

TY chincoteague this much I know from the museum's website.
I was hoping to find out if anything other than the altar will be affected by the hall's closing (will smaller parts of the altar or objects be relocated) as we plan to visit in March 2015.

The Pergamon will be restored in parts until 2025. The north and middle wings are the ones in question, until 2019. This affects the Pergamon altar and the Ishtar Gate. You can still see them till 29 September this year.
The new National Gallery is also being renovated, from 2014 to 2017 and will be closed completely. Some of the works will be displayed in the Hamburg railway station and other locations around the city, but where exactly hasn't been revealed yet.
