Pegasus Airlines for domestic flights in Turkey. Luggage?

Hello... We are exploring flying Pegasus airlines domestic within Turkey for IST to Kayseri and Izmir to Istanbul... before we get deeper into the itinerary planning and details, wanted to see how does the luggage works out? I see on their website that we can take the upgraded package that will give allow me more baggage weight for the check in and that is not a problem. What I am concerned about is the hand baggage allowance of 8 KG. Do they enforce that and weigh the hand baggage at the check in?? My husband is an avid photographer and his camera backpack is significantly more than the hand baggage allowance of 8 KG. Just want to know if they enforce it (most airlines do not worldwide) and if they do enforce it, can we pay for higher hand baggage weight by the pound? Just cannot have it checked in due to its contents

They did not check my hand luggage weight(I had quite a bit of it,much more than 8kg) and they did not check for any of the people infront of me, but it doesn't mean they won't check yours..but go for PEgasus, even if you have to pay at all, it wont be a lot. And check-in in domestic flights in Turkey does not start much in advance(maybe just 30-40 mins before), so the chances of checking are pretty low I think, they are in quite a hurry.

We live in Turkey, and wouldn't normally expect to get our hand baggage checked for weight. However, Pegasus did actually do this to us on an internal flight in January (2014), and maybe they do it regularly, or sometimes. But in Turkey, rules are often not strictly adhered to, and you can often persuade people to bend the rules for you. If you explained that the camera couldn't go in the hold, they may well accept that, particularly if there are two of you and your combined hand baggage weight is within the limit.

You could try their call centre for more info, but they tend just to tell you the rules, which are not always the same as what happens in reality.
