Path of the Gods Question

Ciao!

I'm looking to do the path of the gods hike, but starting in Praiano. From what I understand, I should walk up to Bomerano, and then take the path over to Positano via Nocelle. Is this correct?

No. Walking up the 1000+ stairs from Praiano puts you in the middle of the path. Go right to Bomerano or go left to Nocelle. Nocelle is in the hills above Positano, so you either take the bus down or walk the 1000+ stairs down to Positano.

Sunflower Guides publishes a guide on hikes on the Amalfi Coast, including the Path of the Gods.

Hi jfenton,
three options indeed:
1st, the ekc option, through San Domenico. As he/she said 1000+ stairs from Praiano (D to B) in the map linked. Probably the most common. San Domenico is an interesting rest point.

2nd, the Praiano to Vettica (C to D) or viceversa, it is tought, probably the best is going up from Praiano (C). During the first morning you'll be under the shade of the mountain. Steps, hundreds of steps, up and down.

3rd, going up to Bomerano directly from Praiano (E to A to B), only if you feel brave and fit. Start point is at 30masl and Bomerano 650masl, 620m of descent "slightly" vertical.

An overview with a "only to understand" map here: http://www.pathofgods.com/into-the-p...m-east-to-west

My opinion the ekc option is the most doable, the 2nd in the really first morning, the 3rd only if you think you need workout

Really good info above from ekc and kestrelpov. In 2014, we took a taxi from our hotel in Positano to Bomerano, walked to Nocelle, had lunch then took a bus back to our hotel in Positano. We took our time, stopped a lot to enjoy the view and take pictures - and we still made it in about 3 hours. The first 14 pictures in the link below were from the beginning part of the hike from Bomerano to close to where you would join the trail (I think) if you walked up the steps from Praiano. The other pictures of the hike are from that point to Nocelle.

Many people either take a taxi or the two bus option (you must change in Amalfi) to Bomerano so they can start there. I recommend starting in Bomerano but however you decide to do it will be an incredible experience.
