Here is part of the website which will answer your question orangetravelcat.
And the answer is that yes you can renew your passports that expired this June.
Hopefully you will not shortly be going out of the country right away? The passport office is so slow issuing renewal and new passports. Best regards.

Hi O,
It is easier if you don't let your passport expire.
See http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

Thanks for your answerts. Unfortunately, my husband had some rather major surgery in April and has been recuperating ever since, so getting our passports renewed wasn't utmost on our list of priorities. In fact, it wasn't until we decided to go to Europe in May of 2008 to celebrate his recovery (I hope) that I realized the passports had expired in June.

As others have said, yes you can still renew it. Just wanted to add though... My boyfriend did the "rush" renewal on his and although they say it'll only take about 2 weeks to receive... it's been almost 4. He has checked the State Dept's website and they say it's being processed and/or on the way (can't remember specifically)... but we're glad our European trip is still another 6 weeks away so we have the time to receive it. Bottom line... if you need it anytime soon, do it IMMEDIATELY.
