Passport name change

Anyone recently get their name changed on their passport. I just sent mine in (got married a year and 1/2 ago) and I was reading it could take UP TO 6 weeks. Well I have 2 days less than 6 weeks. Hope it comes in time!! I heard they just put your new name on the last page, how long can that take?

From what I understand, it can take up to 6 weeks. However, a friend of mine had hers back in 3 weeks. I wouldn't worry.

Call the passport office at 877-487-2778 and ask if the process can be expedited.

You could expediate it ($60) I figured if it's not back in 4 weeks I'll then call and pay the $60 to get it faster. They did ask for your dates of travel so hopefully that will have them send it faster..

just a thought- why not wait until after your trip to send in the passport? I waited until I needed a new passport to change it to my married name.

You really want to get this resolved before your trip. With the increase in airport security, any discrepancy between the name the ticket was issued under and your ID will be a real hassle. Even with the name change documented on the last page of her passport, and in spite of the fact that the security people must see dozens of name changes every day, my wife still often has to spend extra time at security while they figure things out, particularly in other countries.

I started to worry about this before my last trip, too... I had just six weeks between when I sent it in and when we were leaving... but I got it back within four weeks. It was weird putting my passport in the mail like that, I have to say!
