PARKING in FLORENCE? Please help!

We are driving into Florence and staying at the Westin Excelsior. We are staying on Starwood points, so we are lucky enough to have a free stay for 2 nights!

Now, I don't mean to be greedy, but I heard their valet charge is 42euro per night. I would like to avoid this, and save 100 bucks.

I was hoping someone knows of a parking garage or other safe place where one might park his or her car while staying in Florence.

Thanks!
Dina

There are many public parking garages in Florence - the only question is - is the difference in price worth the trouble of parking and unparking yourself and getting to wherever it is. I would pay the 42 euros and count it a very cheap room.

But you could contact the hotel and ask for other places nearby where you park it yourself.

dina, if you are staying at the Excelsior in Florence just drive up to the entrance of the hotel. Your luggage will be taken into the hotel and your auto will be immediately taken care of. I agree with nytraveler, consider the cost of the valet parking as a very inexpensive way to enjoy the Excelsior in Florence. Just my thought for what it is worth.

Point well taken.

Since we weren't going to use our car during our entire stay in Florence, I thought a nearby public garage might be more practical (or economical, actually). Probably not worth the hassle of finding it.
and it will probably cost a bit, too, so i won't be saving that much.

Thanks,
Dina
