Park Guell in Barcelona

I've been reading about Park Guell and would love to hear any first-hand comments and advice on visiting it. We are in Barcelona only one day, off of a cruise, and want to decide if this is what we should do. I did see Sagrada Familia and walk La Rambla in the early 90's.

I thought it was fantastic. On my first visit I got a taxi there, but you could alternatively take the portion of the open top bus tour (there are 2 different routes, the red & the blue) which stops there, & get off & then back on there.

We too are on our way to Barcelona and are trying to figure out what to do. My daughter and her husband had been to Barcelona a couple years ago and this was their favorite they said.

I thought Parc Guell was one of the most interesting displays of Gaudi architecture in Barcelona. There are two houses on the grounds, one is apparently where Gaudi lived for a time and another is a Gaudi Museum. We took public transportation but had to walk several blocks to the back entrance of the park which required walking up many stairs.
The park is not near any other attractions (if I remember correctly) but you will not be disappointed in making a special trip there.

In only one day I'd be tempted to skip the park. It was great but...

If you really want to see it, I'd take a taxi both ways. It's quite far from Placa Catalunya which is in the center.

Completely agree with Myer. Take a taxi to get there and back. It should take you maybe 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

I absolutely loved it! Far more interesting than wandering down the Ramblas, IMO, but then I am a huge fan of Gaudi.

regards Ger

My husband and I loved it too -- we spent one of our afternoons during a long weekend in Barcelona at Thanksgiving at the park.
