Paris-what area

Going to Paris from 4/18-4/22 and would like some ideas on the areas/neighborhoods. I would like to be able to experience Paris the way the locals do and yet visit the museums and local attractions. Any ideas?

Are you looking for a hotel or sightseeing?

If you're looking for more local rather than touristy areas then look in the 18th north of Sacre Coeur, southern ends of 14th and 15th. The 20th.

What do you mean by local attractions? Those places close to where you're staying?

The Paris transportation system is great and you can get to the major sights from anywhere in Paris.

Read some of kerouac's reports for local color.

My favourite Arrs. in Paris are..The 1rst, the oldest quartier in Paris, ile de la cite, Pont Neuf, Notre Dame, the louvre etc..are located there.

The 5th (latin Quarter) and the 6th(Saint Germain de Pres).

I tried to stay in different neighborhood but it was never the same for me.

Montparnasse is a great neighborhood for what you're looking for. Hotels are a bit cheaper, you're in close proximity to several metro lines and the center is very close. I like the area around raspail/boulevard Montparnasee. There are some great hotels on or near Rue Delambre, a quiet street. My favorite is The Lenox Monparnasse which is mid-priced. The Luxembourg Gatdens are just a few blocks away and walking through them is beautiful way to get to the St. Germaine area.

Personally I like the 5/6th near St. Germain. Go on booking.com which will give you the areas, real reviews and real time pricing-have always had great luck with that site for hotel booking and have gotten wonderful places without selling a kidney!
