What are the best websites for finding a schedule of upcoming classical music concerts in Paris?

I use www.paris-touristoffice.com - click on the English flag and then go to Events - you can enter your dates and all available events will come up. Also pariscope.fr but only in French.

Try www.leclubparis.com--It has all the music and art listings as well as the latest restaurant reviews.

I think the Paris T.O. site that Mara gave is probably the best one-stop source for most concerts. Next best are probably:

www.concertonet.com
www.concertclassic.com
(the latter is good because you can search by period, such as classique or romantique or baroque, or just "Paris" for all, it has other cities in France, also)

For specific venues, some good ones are:

www.cite-musique.fr (also site of the music museum, which is marvelous, they have concerts also and a good bookshop)

www.chatelet-theatre.com (they get very good pianists there)

www.radio-france.fr

www.opera-de-paris.fr (they have some concerts there as well as dance/opera)

catholique-paris.cef.fr/nd2/concerts.htm (Notre Dame concerts and organ recitals)

www.stsulpice.com (St Sulpice church, famous organ)
www.radio-france.fr
www.sallegaveau.com
www.theatrecha mpselysees.fr
www.louvre.fr (they have an auditorium)

Some particular groups with web sites with their own schedules are:

www.ampconcerts.com (mgt company for 2 groups that perform at Ste Chapelle often, as well as other churches)

www.archetspf.asso.fr (similar to above group in what they do; I think ensemble of musicians from Paris Opera Ballet orchestre)

www.academie-de-musique.com (a choir of students and young professionals)

membres.lycos.fr/madrigaldeparis
Madrigal singers

www.orchestredeparis.com (I think they just went on strike to protest their concert hall)
That's a good one, Elaine, I didn't have that. I have a few more that I found at work which I forgot -- I want to add them to make this thread a good summary of classical music URLs.

More church sites with concerts (many of these are in the Paris TO site, but if one wanted to go a specific place, these might have more):

ste-genevieve-paris.cef.fr
(near Pantheon, see "Actualities" for c oncerts)

www.eglise-sgp.org (St Germain church, go to Arts & Culture, then Musique, not sure if they keep it up)

www.saint-roch.org (in the 1st arr, they do list concerts under "Agenda&quot

www.concertsparisiens.fr
I think this is a booking agent like Ampconcerts. They have some good things listed, though.

Some more comprehensive sites:

www.orguefrance.org (excellent French Organ site, including all organ concerts and recitals--see "concerts" at top right, then select by month)

www.civp.com
Concours Internationaux de la Ville de Paris: site of musical competitions in Paris with dates and programs
Right now (Nov 8-17) the triennial organ competition is going on in Paris and they give dates and venues for public performances of the finals -- going to competitions is very exciting and interesting if you like classical music and often pretty cheap. They just finished a jazz piano competition in October; there is trumpet and contemporary piano (which means classical like Messiaen) next year and the Rampal flute competition in 2004. Their site gives schedules for public rounds which include the finals at St-Eustache church on 11/16 at 2 and 8 pm.

www.journal-laterrasse.com
is a good comprehensive arts online journal for dance and music (jazz, classical and world). It is pretty good and includes good concert schedules.

www.bnf.fr
Bibliotheque Nationale de France has an auditorium and concerts (search programmes culturel). This site is interesting because it gives a lot of lectures and other things going on there which might be of interest for someone to practice their French, at least listening. For example, they may have a lecture over the works or biography of a composer before the concert.

I would also like to mention that there is a special classical sacred music festival going on now in Paris (Festival d'art sacre). I think this is an annual event in the weeks before Christmas (at least since its inauguration not too long ago; I think Mme Chirac had something to do with it). A lot of good sacred choral music, the schedules should be in the Paris Tourist Office web site.

Also, there is a famous violin competition going on at end of Nov in Paris (the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud) and the finals are open to the public. This alternates with the piano competition(next year) portion.
www.concours-long-thibaud.org

www.arpeggione.com
This is a general French classical music site, good for links to a lot of things, but not concert listings per se (ie, music schools, teachers, orchestras, ensembles, venues, magazines, media)
