Paris Weather Next week
It seems that all weather.com has to say about the weather in Paris for my trip (Jan1-7) is that it's going to rain. It's as if they don't have any other icon except for the one with the cloud letting out rain. Is this what I have to expect...constant rain? Is it typically only in the AM, PM? Do you have any other web sites with info on the weather in Paris??

If anyone tells you what the weather in Paris will be at any particular time, don't believe them. They don't know, I don't know, you won't know until you get there. Paris is so changeable and unpredictable nobody really knows. Could be sunny, mild, cold, cloudy, nasty, windy, rainy. People have been cold in July and warm in October. So be prepared with layers to put on or take off, umbrellas, hope for sunny, mild weather and you'll be fine. For more Paris information go to www.anamericaninparis.com

Andy
check several websites for the Paris forecast and you'll be amazed at the differences among them.
Predicting weather now for two weeks from now is guestimates at best.
Check a day or two before you go.
And if it's rain, have fun anyway. It's more excuse for hot coffee or hot chocolate and a pastry.

During winter you can count on very cold, rainy weather on the whole. No one will know if it'll rain day or night or constantly-just be prepared with warm clothing and a water-repellent jacket and shoes/boots. Even during October when we visited, the weather was changeable, warm and sunny one day and cold and drizzly the next. Dont' obsess about the weather. Just be glad you're going to visit a very beautiful city, rain or shine and enjoy every minute you've got there! Bon voyage!

It rains a lot in Paris, especially in winter. I've been then several times when it rained almost every day for periods of several weeks, and that wasn't during the rainy season. When I've been there, it would rain more in the morning and then maybe late afternoon and perhaps during later evening, also, but I wouldn't tell you to count on that--there usually would be some breaks during the day rather than constant rain. However, I have been there when the rain was pretty constant for long periods. There are tons of web sites on weather,I like www.yahoo.com although it will send you to weather.com for beyond 5 days (few sites predict that far out, it's less reliable, of course).

YOu can go to the French site www.meteo.fr for weather. I like their maps for more specifics within France, but don't expect to get better weather that way. They do predict rain for next 4-5 days with a little sun on Christmas.

I don't agree with Fred at all that you never know on the weather in Paris -- I wouldn't count on it 10 days ahead, but in Paris, I find the local weather forecasts fairly accurate and good for planning activities for several days ahead. I like the weather section in the Figaro newspaper, in particular.
