We've stayed with them in one of their apts on Rue Cortot in Montmatre. They were on time to meet us, the cab was ready when we wanted to depart, and we had a couple of minor problems that were resolved on the spot. I would highly recommend them.
The area is in the 1st and should be pretty safe. Hopefully an expert on this particular apartment can help you.

Is the 1st arrondissement safe?
Probably the only harm that will come to you is a dislocated shoulder from carrying the HIGH END shopping bags that you'll be carrying!!
It's very safe.....kinda Fifth Ave. safe...it's still big city....and of course you have Palais Royal for a relaxing bit of green!

nrpsydoc,
I think that you will be very happy with a stay in the Palais Royal. Collette had an apartment at the North end...near the Grand Vefour.
The arcades of Palais Royal are lined with very distinctive shops. Les Drapeaux de France features an array of military miniatures. Didier Ludot specializes in top-of-the-line used designer goods....ie the perfect black designer dress.
And the garden is a wonderful green haven....perfect setting for an apartment!!

Oh, by the way, go to the Palais Royal 2-bedroom site and review some of the comments. Some of them have e-mail addresses with their comments. E-mail them and ask them for their candid review. I got several responses.

I replied to your other thread, but since reading this one, I realize that I stayed in the duplex you are considering. Yes, the area is safe. There are plenty of people walking about at most hours. I would come and go in the nightime, alone or with my 9 y.o. daughter and have no problems.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom and one of the two bedrooms in the Palais Royal (not the duplex aprt). This company is fantastic and the apartments are wonderful. Alex picks out everything for each apartment, including furniture, color, bath tiles, etc. and pays attention to all details. He meets you when you arrive and helps with the luggage, spends time with you going over the neighborhood particulars and is available for any questions throughout your trip. You will be steps from the Louvre, metro, bus, about 5 blocks from a Monoprix and 6-8 blocks from the outdoor market. You can picnic in the gardens with a large fountain. You will never believe you are in a big city because the gardens stop the noise. I won't stay anywhere else.
