Paris Solo: Where to Stay?
Hello all!
I will be 25 in May, and I am planning my first trip to Paris--a solo trip. I am incredibly excited! I am having a tough time trying to decide where to stay.
As a woman traveler, I want to stay in a place that will be safe when returning to my hotel in the evening. I am also on something of a budget (hoping to spend under 80 Euros for a single.)
Any recommendations on neighborhoods or hotels?
Thanks!

You might try Grand Hotel des Balcons. They have internet rates (non cancellable, non refundable) for less than E80. It's a nice hotel in a central location.

Here's another.

There are 2 hotel threads here with recommendations. One is right bank hotels the other is left bank hotels. Do a search to find them.

I'm another solo female traveler - you'll have a hard time finding a non-safe area in central Paris! For a relatively cheap but fine hotel in a good location I love Le Sevigne, steps from the St. Paul metro in the Marais. See http://www.le-sevigne.com/ang_accueil.htm - 69 euros for a single with shower.

Hey Rainyday,
When are you heading to Paris, I'm a solo traveler also. I'll be in Paris from 5/25-31. I'm staying at the hotel lotti in the 1st arrond. It was a bit pricey but looked very pretty.

I prefer the 5th but as stated above, most any central location will be safe. I was there solo in March and stayed at Hotel St Jacques http://www.paris-hotel-stjacques.com...-hotel-01.html
I've stayed there before and love it but their prices have gone up, now listed as 110€ but you can get it for less on some booking sites (e.g. 123.france.com ,etc) and sometimes they run specials. I got it for 70€ but that was in November.
A cheaper option, just a few blocks from there is Hotel Marignan, www.hotel-marignan.com/html/p1_a.htm They have ensuite rooms but also some with bathroom across the hall and shared by two other rooms. Those prices start at about 50€. It's a very basic one star but the price and location are superb. They have free wi-fi but no tv, no lift, etc. But it does include breakfast which makes the price that much better.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate it.
Eliza, I don't have set dates yet; I just decided to go over the weekend! If I'll be in Paris during the same time, maybe we can meet up?

Rainyday, that sounds great! This is also my first trip to Paris and my first big solo adventure. I'll be turning 27 in June so maybe we can celebrate both of our birthdays while you are in Paris in May?

For any of you traveling to Paris in May or June, be sure to add your name and dates to this thread. Hopefully some connections will be made.

Hello I live in Paris, I would recommend staying in the south /west of paris, avoid the 17th and 18th arr. these areas are not so safe for single ladies late in the evening.
happy travels
