Paris solo, need advise

Going to Paris the end of August, 40 year old female, never been to Europe - need your suggestions ! Looking for a good hotel with a great location (location more important than price (ie, I love the Woldorf in NYC). I want to be in the heart of things, to be able to walk out the hotel and find cute shops, cafes nearby. I want a comfee bed, luxury bath & shower, a/c & English helping staff to help guide me. I love to shop, eat good food, & people watch. I would like to schudule a short tour soon after I arrive, any suggestions ? Thanks for your help !!

If I could stay anywhere on a solo trip I'd pick Hotel du Louvre. It's is a great location, is well appointed and I've heard the rooms are nice. It's out of my price range though. (but in the Waldorf price range). Of course there's always George V......

Just flew in from Paris tonight. A little tired to answer all your questions.
We stayed at a little place on Rue Venue. No luxury. LUXURY IS EXPENSIVE IN PARIS.
We could walk to many of the sites.
Language was a problem. The hotels usualy have English speaking staff. Other places are a toss up. If you make an effort in French they will respond in English.
Watch out for scams at train stations and crowded locations. They will take your money or baggage any way they can.
All-in-all, Paris is nice. We liked London much more.
I'll try to answer more later.

One more thing. Just found a receipt from a Paris van tour that we took yesterday. Try [email protected] for info. It was a nice tour of the highlights and not too expensive.

I lived in Paris for a while and return a few times a year. I usually stay at the George V or Hotel Vendome. The George V is incredible. The salon services and gym in the basement are quite nice and the rooms are impecable. The Hotel Vendome is a boutique hotel and the service is incredible. You shouldn't have a problem with language as long as you make some attempt to learning small phrases. I would suggest walking around first and gettting your bearing before you jump on a tour. I recommend a private tour--they are usually small groups of 8-10 and you can learn much more about your location. You can inquire with your concierge about a small private tour (they aren't expensive as some might want to tell you). I am an avid shopper and love luxury and could give you some tips on dining and shopping. Feel free to e-mail me if yoiu like.

what you need is "advice." "advise" is a verb. a dictionary would help.
