Paris Shopping - stationery, linens, hats, kitchen stuff
Hello Fodors,
Any stores pop into mind where I can get this stuff? I know there are a ton of places in Paris to choose from but where can I get the best stuff for these items? Hopefully they are of reasonable value but will pay for good quality. I'll be staying in the 6th at the Holiday Inn Paris Notre Dame if you also have any input on great restaurants/stores around the area or others. Merci

The Hema shops offer a wide range of very cheap small kitchen items. If you are looking for huge copper pots and pans, Dehillerin is the place.

I appreciate the help, thank you. I've never used Dehillerin products. Can you tell me about their quality? Their copper line is gorg. Will they ship to the US should I find something to purchase in the store unavailable online? Linvosges too.
I forgot to add lingerie to the title. Where are the best boutiques for exquisite lingerie? Besides BHV, Bon Marche, any other galleria type malls?

There are a few malls in Paris: Forum des Halles, Italie Deux, Centre Commercial Montparnasse, Beaugrenelle... but obviously it is quite difficult to squeeze a big mall anywhere into Paris. If you want to do serious mall shopping, take metro line 1 to La Défense and visit Les Quatre Temps -- which is even open on Sunday.

Merci is my favorite shop in Paris and apparently the profits go to charity. IT's just a delight to walk around and there are wonderful household/decorative/tablewear items etc. I love their linen facecloths.
Here's my blogpost to give you an idea.

If you walk in the area around Dehillerin you;ll find other less precious kitchenware shops.

+2 for BHV, I devote at least two hours on every trip to browse the kitchen wares and linens. It also has a nice little café with a wonderful view of the Hotel de Ville. My favorite line of kitchen linens is Le Jacquard Francais. One can only have so many tablecloths, but I must have 25 of their tea towels. BHV carries this line, but the whole collection is at 12 rue Chevalier St. George, near the Madeleine metro station.

These little shops are fun. I have lots of Deshouliers rammekins and little olive dishes from them which last and last. Some Le Creuset but not much else for serious chefs.
Don't go out of your way but as the 5 shops are dotted across Paris, worth a nose in if you're passing by:

It's even worth it to look in little hardware shops you might pass--I found neat things in the one on Rue Cler.
And I'll suggest my favorite thing to bring guys--or even girls--a Laguiole folding knife for picnics.

+3 for BHV
They have two (2) hardware departments!
The one upstairs has curtain rods, fabulous drawer pulls, door knockers, etc.
In the basement are garden and shop tools, nuts, bolts, screws, AND signs of all kinds INCLUDING blue and white porcelain house numbers, a great thing to bring home for a souvenir. You can -- I kid you not -- buy all the leather, soles, and tools you need to make your own pair of shoes!
You can leave your husband here all day while you go shopping.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I was only supposed to stay for 1 week but my vacation days were approved and could now be gone for 25 consecutive days. I've never had this much time off! I'm wondering if I should spend all those days in Paris or go somewhere else and just do a bunch of day trips.
I'm obsessed with drawer pulls can't wait for the hunt.

Wow 25 days sounds much better than a week. You'll have time for lots of drawer pulls!
We spent four months in Paris and I have lots more ideas on my blog

I lurk here and sometimes wonder what happened to those who post questions. I am back home and wanted to say thanks for the stores and malls mentioned. I switched jobs before going on vacation and bought new clothes instead. Shopping in Paris was a blast. Spent 12 days there, took the train to Nice where I rented a car, then flew to Istanbul to meet some of the management team. Besides a few mishaps, it was all in all a successful break. Did not realize how much I needed that until I got there!
