We're headed back to Paris for five days in October, having spent 7 days there last May. Last time we didn't plan our itinerary as well as we might, so this trip we're hoping to catch those things we had on the list but missed the first time. I've been doing some advance planning, looking up locations and hours for museums and the like, but was wondering how much time we should plan for:

Musée Picasso
Musée Marmottan
Musée d'Histoire de Judaisme

Out of the three, I've only been to the Musée Marmottan and spent about 2 hours there last week. I enjoyed it a lot.

It's also a nice neighborhood for taking a walk.

About 2 hours each for Marmatton and Jewish museums.

The Picasso and Jewish museums are near each other so plan on doing them the same day to cut down on transportion times. There are lots of other interesting things to do in the Marais so I would plan on a day wandering around that area, if your itinerary permits.

While at Marais, also go to the Musee Carnavalet.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I'd planned the Picasso and Jewish museums for the same day. We barely touched on the Marais last visit, and I've planned an entire day there including those two museums.

Also planned the Marmottan and Bois de Bolougne for another day. What's worth seeing at B du B (have been warned not to go there at night)?

I haven't been to the Musee d' Histoire de Judaisme, but I was in and out of the Picasso Museum in about 45 minutes (I wasn't impressed). The Musee Marmottan isn't big, but I love it and it takes some time to get there, and it's worth poking around the neighborhood a bit, so I'd allow a half-day for that.

The Marmottan is in the back of a nice park, one of those described in that "Paris Gardens" article that was posted in the past couple of days...

Closer to the Seine but in the 16th is the Musee du Vin:

On our next visit, we're going to have a look at the small Passy Cemetery - some notables interred there:
-Berthe Morisot (I think some of her paintings are in the Marmottan)
-Edouard Manet
-Claude Debussy

Thanks everyone for the info and suggestions. Musée Carnavalet looks quite interesting; should I plan for more than a couple of hours there? Musée du Vin as well!

One more question, is it too much to try to cover the Musée Picasso, Musée d'Histroire Judaisme and Musée Carnavalet all in one day? How much time should we allow for Musée Carnavalet?

I second StCirq's review of the Picasso museum... I've seen much more impressive displays of his work at other museums, and didn't like this even a quarter as much as the Carnavalet (2-4 hours) or the Jacquemart-Andre museum (http://www.musee-jacquemart-andre.com/en/jacquemart/), which has a romantic story and an incredible collection within the context of the period.

To make the Carnavalet even more fun, pick up a copy of the letters of Madame de Sevigne (http://www.amazon.com/Selected-Lette...237&sr=1-1). She was a 17th century occupant of the Carnavalet who wrote scores of letters to her daughter and friends over the years, detailing French society and gossip from the time. Portraits of her and her friends and family hang in the Carnavalet, and it really makes the period much more accessible.
