Hi,
We're going to Paris next week with our 1 year old, and staying in the 7th at the Bourgogne et Montana.
We're going mainly for a short holiday but also to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. With baby in tow, we don't plan on eating at really elegant and romantic restaurants, even if it is our anniversary.
I saw the great thread about "Restaurants in the 7th" but was wondering if anyone could recommend some restaurants casual enough to bring our baby. We usually leave him in his stroller when we dine out, so we would need a restaurant that isn't so crowded that the stroller can't be wheeled through.
Basically we would like good food that is not too expensive (not more than about 60 -70 euro for 2) in a restaurant that we would be comfortable with our baby. The last thing we want is to go to an elegant restaurant and destroy the evening of other diners. Our baby is quite good though, not too fussy.
Also, the closer to the Hotel Bourgogne et Montana, the better! However we would be interested in restaurants in the 6th also if there is some place that would suit us better.
One last thing - The Paris Visite pass, is it worth buying for a 3 day visit?
Thank you!
Amy

Brasserie de L'Esplanade, on rue Fabert, is a reasonable walk from your hotel, and has a terrasse. Most of our favorites in the 7th are closed next week; however your hotel concierge should be of help.

Oakglen - Yes, I was afraid that we would run into a lot of things closed in August. But thanks for the suggestion.
Zeppole - Thanks for the website link. I like that cookiemag website, I had never seen it before.
If you go to lesrestos.com, just click on terrasse, nearest metro & 7th etc to get a list of restaurants close to your hotel. For "child friendly" places, try clicking on those which offer children's menus. I think your best bet would be those restaurants with terrasse seating. Good luck.
Amy, please report back on what you find! My husband and I are heading in October with our daughter who will be almost two and we have an anniversary while we are there as well. We'll be closer to the 5th but will travel. I'd be interested to know whether the stroller is a nuisance in most places, whether there are high chairs and whether you are welcome with a small child. Have fun!
Try La Ferme Saint Simon (6, rue de Saint-Simon, near Bd. Saint-Germain and rue de Bac) a lovely bistrot with very good food, good service and a very pleasant owner M. Dario.
I´m sure he wiil be delighted to receive you.
Last June, 27th. we had lunch there.
My husband, son (age 9) and I just returned from Paris a couple of days ago. We were staying in 1e (near the Louvre) and found a little Italian place that was very family friendly - Pizza Nelly. It's on a little side street, here's the address: 19, Rue Duphot 75001 Paris, France Tel: +33 1 40 15 00 33.
We also enjoyed a splurge night out at Barlotti -www.buddha-bar.com/new/en/plan_barlotti.php . They were very accommodating to our vegetarian son and made him something not on the menu (penne with cream sauce). I noticed another family with a toddler in a stroller there but most of the crowd was young/hip Parisians.
I had the best truffle risotto there!
In the little square near Barlotti are probably eight other restaurants so if Barlotti is too dear, it would be easy to find something else. Barlotti address: 35, Place du Marché Saint Honoré 75001 Paris
Tel : 33.(0)1.44.86.97.97 (if you go early, say 7:00, you won't need reservations.)
As far as the Paris Visite card, I wondered about buying one too but was glad I did. We rode the Metro much more than we thought we would and I was glad that I didn't have to hassle with buying it there, or worse, buying tickets for each journey. We bought ours at St. Pancras station in London as we waited for the Eurostar. Although they only sell adult Paris Visite tickets at St. Pancras and I found out later that you could buy a child's Paris Visite ticket in Paris.
Your child might be a little young for this but one of the activities we most enjoyed in Paris was a bike tour with Bike About Tours (www.bikeabouttours.com)
Have fun on your trip!
PS: sorry about the web links coming up twice - I don't know what I did wrong!
I guess the web links came up twice only in the preview panel - they look okay in the post.
Another vote for L'Esplanade in the 7th. When we ate there we saw a couple of families with babies in strollers.
Thanks for all the replies.

Sally30 - I will let you know how it goes and what we end up trying.
PairofDiceLost - Unfortunately I have put a ban on Italian food for this trip. We live in Italy, and I need a break from Italian food! I'll take French, American, Thai, Indian, or almost any other type of food...but no Italian food!
Sally30 - We went to Le Relais de l'Entrecote on Rue Marbeuf, 15 and really liked it. It's quite popular and crowded, but we felt comfortable with the baby. All the waitresses were lovely and kept playing with our baby. (Our little Marcello is quite the flirt though, and loved all the waitresses!) And the food is great! Only steak, salad, and fries on the menu (25 euro per person), but very good.
We had a superior room that had a long newly carpeted hallway - great for playing! HIGHLY recommend this hotel.
We went to L'Esplanade...and passed by it. After having a look, we did not feel comfortable bringing a baby in there. Actually even without the baby, I don't think we would have dined there. It looked quite elegant, and we are more casual. However, my husband and I did notice that people tend to dress up more for dinner in Paris than here in Italy.
Also, the EXTREMELY kind staff at our hotel kind of told us that the area where L'Esplanade is more of a diplomatic/foreign (non-Europeans) area. They said that the Latin Quarter and the St. Germain areas are where the Europeans (and also Americans) tend to hang out and dine. The prices for the restaurants are much more reasonable in these areas as well.
Anyway, I recommend Entrecote. They don't take reservations, and you may have to wait a few minutes (we waited about 10-15 minutes), but it's not a big deal and they're very quick. Make sure you order one of their wonderful desserts!
There is also Hippopotamus, which is like a French TGI Fridays. It's very child friendly, and the prices are reasonable. It's a chain so there are several locations.
By the way, I highly recommend our hotel (Bourgogne et Montana). The manager and staff were unbelievably kind and helpful. Christoph and his staff were carrying around Marcello like he was their own son!
We've sat outside at Chez Francis near Pont l'Alma. The outside has a wonderful view of the twinkling Eiffel Tower. While they are not specifically for kids, when we took our 5 and 7 yo there last spring, they loved it! The 5 yo wanted ketchup for her fries (if all else fails...) and they had run out. The waiter went next door and asked a different restaurant for some for her. I will always remember how kind that was
Also, eating outside may make the stroller thing easier... move a chair and pull the stroller up to the table.
