Paris Perfect: Which Apt for Honeymoon?

Hello! My fiance and I are so excited for our European honeymoon - one week in Austria and one in Paris.

We know we want to stay in a Paris Perfect apartment and have narrowed it down to 3. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.

Champagne: http://www.parisperfect.com/apartmen...tion=slideshow

Balcony looks amazing. Only concern is the lack of a big sofa for lounging after a long day. Is it comfortable and homey?

Cabernet: http://www.parisperfect.com/apartmen...tion=slideshow

View looks stunning - favorite that I've seen - but the kitchen looks small, and I'm again wondering about the sofa conundrum (seems silly, but I think we'll be tired and want to feel cozy and relaxed after a long day!). Also, anyone know how the specific neighborhood is (not just the 7th, but the block)?

Volnay: http://www.parisperfect.com/apartmen...tion=slideshow

Volnay seems to have the million dollar sofa, but partially obstructed Tower views and a more sleek, modern feel that I'm not sure I'll love. Thoughts?

I'm not usually this picky, but it's so hard with so many great choices...and the pressure of wanting to make the honeymoon the trip of a lifetime.

Thanks everyone!!!

Paris Perfect apartments are pretty much the top end and their prices reflect that. You really aren't going to find much bigger sofas/kitchens/etc. I think all three are great options.

#2, you aren't going to be cooking much. I love the bedroom in this one the best. You have big windows and love the terrace. Out of my price range but it is lovely.

Thanks so much for the replies! I should clarify that I'm definitely going to go with one of these 3, it's just a question of which one - I've gotten super nit-picky because I just can't seem to pull the trigger and pick one; they're all so enticing! Curious if anyone on these forums has stayed in any of them.

Belinda: I agree . They all seem lovely. Each has certain pros and cons, and I've stared at them for so long that I have trouble stepping back and seeing which is best overall.

Flpab: Thanks for your vote! Great points. Out of my price range too, ordinarily (I'm a social worker...), but we've saved for years for this dream trip. I think I'm inclined to agree with your choice...!

Just don't dry anything in those washer/dryer combos that you love. I sort of melted a fleece and the wrinkles would not come out of my jeans. Good for washing but hang up to dry your tops. I got the hang of it but learned to take things out damp.
Nice coffee pots. I love buying wine, cheese, bread and oh the butter is so good there. Sit on your patio at night and watch the lights. Very romantic. If you want to do something fun try fat tire bike tours. paris.fattirebiketours.com/

I have stayed in Champagne and loved it. Good kitchen and dining area with separate livingroom. Bedroom small but typical for Paris. View on Dominque or the large intersection. Near every possible shop you might need.

I am staying in Cabernet next September. I have seen Cabernet and it is nice too. Yes, kitchen is small but you will be on your honeymoon and there are so many great restaurants in the immediate area. You will have many years to cook when you get home. I basically use kitchen for breakfast, snacks and dessert. And, of course, those rotisserie chickens.I have never tried to cook a full five course meal in Paris. Cabernet is directly across the street from Champagne but view from Cabernet is on Ave Rapp.

In my opinion, either would be fine, but Champagne is really lovely. Just know that the porch is narrow and floor is not solid, as I recall. But you can just open the french doors and enjoy the view.

The couch is a good size. Remember it can be made into a full size bed or two twins.

Hope this helps.

You can't go wrong with any of the beauties. The Champagne apartment would be my choice. I'm a sucker for a great balcony and there's a lot to see from this apartment. Enjoy!

what do you mean the floor is not solid?

So nice you now have someone that has stayed there.

I just looked at the front of the buildings. Maybe the floor of the porch is solid. these porches are wide enough for a chair, small table and another chair. I found them best for standing on to enjoy the view.

Thanks, everyone! Flpab, thanks for the bike tour and washer/dryer advice, I appreciate it. Benitakaren, so glad you've seen both - that's super helpful, and thanks for your vote. RobertaL, I'm a sucker for a balcony and view, too, which definitely makes it a great option.

All three are beautiful but #3 has stools rather than chairs for dining. Last apt I rented in Paris had the same stools and I found them awkward to climb up on. Might not be a big deal for you.

We've stayed in Champagne three times for a total of 6 weeks. We're returning for 2 more weeks next Sept.

When we get there, I always re-arrange the chairs to take advantage of the fabulous views. I've spent many hours just gazing at the Eiffel tower while reading a book - and also keeping an eye on the activity at the cafe across the street. People like to go to cafes to "people watch" - that's what I do, but from up-above. Also, it's nice to hear the clop-clop-clop of the horse hoofs as horse-drawn carriages pass by below. It's also fun to watch the commute traffic in the evening on Ave Rapp below (don't miss the fabulous Art Nouveau house at 29 Ave Rapp). The wonderful Haussman building across the street in front of the Eiffel Tower is also an attraction. We like watching the lights come on in the houses as people arrive home from work & turn on the lights. This building turns red, green, yellow in the evening. For days we couldn't figure out what was causing this until we finally realized it was a reflection from the street light on the corner. We cook at the Apt quite a bit. We normally spend 2 months in France every year - in different locations. So, that's 20-30 restaurant meals a year - enough to satisfy our "dining out" experiences. There is a nice grocery a half-block away, a fabulous "open-air" meat market across the street which is next door to a great wine shop. Don't bother with the Chinese take-out below the apt.

As you probably know - you can see the Eiffel tower from every room of the house except the bathroom and (small) WC.

I've heard many times from different PP people than Champagne is their "most requested" one bedroom Apt. We've been in about 7 other PP apartments - and always glad we've chosen Champagne.

Here is something I posted a couple of years ago. Page down to where I provide a link to some pictures. There are a few of Champagne.

Here are the buses that pass close to Champagne. We always take buses to places. You can see more stuff from a bus than you can on an underground metro.

I'd choose 2 or 3, myself. It's just taste. I don't really like the Champagne that well and unless I'm mistaken, it costs more than Cabernet. I like more modern furniture as in 3 but at least 2 is an improvement over 1. I really don't like the fussy faux Louis whatever stuff in so many French apts and I hate that window curtain, basically over the bed in the Champagne. Plus I don't like it when the toilet is separate from the rest of the bathroom.

I wouldn't choose or not choose an apt on any of those if it were a great deal and where I wanted to be, but given your choices, I think Champagne is the worst, myself, for what it costs. BOth 2 and 3 have better bathrooms. I really dislike that bed treatment in the Champagne, I'll admit. And 2 has a balcony, also.

I don't get your concern about the kitchens, they look perfectly fine and the sofas in 1-2, also. They are normal sofas, not sure what you want. I think they'd be loveseats or look obviously uncomftable, but they don't. They look normal size to me.

KAnderson17-

First of all-congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I think all 3 of the apartments are fantastic. Out of my price range but it's for your honeymoon, so what the heck!

Go with the one that tugs at you the most. If none of them do you could print the names on slips of paper, put them in a hat, and pick one. Voila! Problem solved.

I'm in a similar quandary but alas-no honeymoon. When we arrive for the first time in Paris in 2015 it will be after 47 years of marriage!

Stu, are you the reason I couldn't get to rent Champagne next September? I am hoping to put together a Haircut and Dinner GTG. Hope to meet you then.

I'm confused. The OP says Volnay but the link is for Layon. Are Volnay and Layon the same apt?

FWIW, Layon is my fav PP apartment. I like the modern style and it has an extra half bath.

So much helpful advice - I'm so grateful!!! Stu, your detailed (and generous) reply was just what I was looking for. It can be so hard to judge from website photos, but yours are stunning.

Shoot, I did mean to title the last one Layon, not Volnay. I'd spent hours looking at so many different apartments and got confused. The link to Layon is correct - ignore what I typed

Anyway, I think we're going to try and book Champagne ASAP, with Cabernet as a very close second and Layon a very close third in case Champagne is unavailable (seems possible, given its popularity).

We've stayed in Montrachet three times and very much enjoyed that one, particularly the location, along with the views of the Eiffel Tower from all the windows, even lying in bed...watching the Tower sparkle.

Actually, we tried to book the last 2 weeks in Sept but someone else booked the last 3 weeks in Sept ahead of us. We got some "wrong" info from a PP rep as to how soon we could book. We're actually booked from Oct 3, departing Oct 18.

Here is another PP site where you can see more pictures about a specific apt, and also order a book for the one you choose (Christmas/wedding present?).
