R, you don't say what you are interested in. For what it's worth, the Louvre and Museum d'Orsay are both closed on May 1. Also, d'Orsay is always closed on Monday and the Louvre is always closed on Tuesday. <BR>John Bermont<BR>www.enjoy-europe.com/cds/france.htm

You may wish to start your search at: www.paris.org/parisfull.html. Among other things, it has a good list of the larger musuems, monuments and sites and their closing days. Know, in general, that May Day is one of the biggest national holidays, along with Christmas and New Year's, and many of those places, along with government offices and the usual list, will be shut. Know also that sometimes students and professional protestors can get fidgety and seek to vent collectively their group nervous energy on the day.<BR> There will be plenty of things to do, if you plan ahead.

That is one of the biggest holidays in France as far as things being closed because it is, of course, workers' day (fete du travail). So, you can't very well make people work! I haven't been there, but I think you will find all museums and large stores closed. I don't know how common it is for restaurants and smaller shops to be open on that day, maybe someone else who lives there or has been there on that day will say.
