Based on many, many trips by taxi from both airports, I find the new rates fare. Thanks for the info.

It will be interesting to see if the shuttles change their rates in response to this.

They will point out that they give you a bottle of water worth 0.08 euros in the back seat.

One important thing to know is that the flat rates for airport taxis are not obligatory. Although most taxis will apply these rates, it is important to ask before you enter the taxi if they are applying the flat rate or not. I am confident that the taxis that prefer to use their meters will quickly learn that they are losing business by doing so and will change their mind.

Compliant taxis will push a button on their meter and the flat rate will appear immediately and will not change at any time during the trip.

When I was in Paris in November, Uber had a flat rate from Paris to the airport.

I don't think that Uber is the subject here. Their flat rates can vary 300% depending on demand. Who wants to be told that their flat rate will be 100 euros?

What I find more interesting -- even though it doesn't concern most tourists -- is how these rates will affect people going to various suburbs. For example, somebody going from CDG to Montrouge in the southern suburbs -- can they take the flat rate of 55 euros as far as Porte d'Orléans at the southern edge of the city and just get the meter unblocked when they go beyond the city limits?

I know Uber is not the original subject here, but it is relevant to the topic. Are you sure that the flat rate to the airport is subject to surge pricing? That was not my impression, but I do not know for sure.

Uber´s surge pricing is alive and well in Paris. A friend recently paid 80€ from the 7th to CDG using Uber. He did know the price in advance but the subject here is flat rate pricing.

Surge pricing does not apply to taxis outside of their well published fare structure.

_____

It is my understanding that the flat rate only applies to destinations in Paris from either of the airports. Someone traveling from CDG to Montrouge would see the rates change when passing the normal zone limits. En route fares on a trip from CDG to Montrouge could change up to 3 times.

I don't see any mention of fares going to the airports from town. I would hope the regulations apply to travel in both directions. Does anyone know if the new rules apply to trips to the airports?
