Paris Museum pass
Just back from a week in Paris and we found our museum passes less useful than when we went 4 years ago. In the intermim it seems that the pass no longer covers "temporary exhibits", i.e. only the permanent collections can be viewed with the pass. We went to the Rodin museum to see the exhibit of his works on the female form (on view for a few months) only to be told it was not only not only not covered, but there was no discounted rate for museum pass holders. Same story at the Pompidor.
The passes are clearly a good deal and we have used them in the past, but this trip we ended up thinking we should have just skipped it.

I don't think they ever covered "special exhibits" Their biggest benefit is to avoid lines. Many museums have "special exhibits" which have timed tickets. I suppose that these are the same thing you are refering to as "temporary". The Pompadou sp? always has had one floor not covered by their general admission or museum pass when I have been there.

Lots of museums have special temporary expositions, but they aren't necessarily timed entry (although some may be). I think if you have to pay for them with a museum pass, they would be the kind that would also have a supplementary fee if you were just buying a regular ticket, also. The museum pass never covered these, as far as I know, I agree with others, and I know it didn't four years ago. I have the info sheet from the Paris museum pass from 2000, for example, and right on it is the advice that it does not give admission to temporary exhibits or guided visits.
